Bureau of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Mr. Matt Armstrong currently serves as the Bureau Director of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
The Bureau of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities is responsible for the supervision of the following divisions, the five comprehensive regional facilities for persons with developmental disabilities/mental retardation, and a specialized juvenile rehabilitation facility:
- The Division of Community Mental Retardation Services is responsible for the development of community mental retardation programs, established with state or federal funds other than Developmental Disability or HCBS Waiver Funds. This division is responsible for working with the 15 regional mental health centers, and other service providers in the development of community programs for persons with mental retardation.
- The Division of Home and Community-Based (HCBS) MR/DD Waiver provides services to persons with mental retardation/ developmental disabilities who would require the level of care found at an intermediate care facility for the mentally retarded (ICF/MR) if these services were not available. Statewide program capacity has increased over time and will continue to expand pending federal approval and appropriation of the state general fund match. Ms. Ashley Lacoste is Division Director.
